Solubility
Aqueous solubility experiments were performed in flasks using several concentrations of surfactants (2, 1, 0.5, 0.25, 0.1, and 0.05 g/l and below the CMC) in the presence of excess quantities of naphthalene and phenanthrene crystals. The flasks were equilibrated for about 48 h at 20°C on a rotary shaker (125 rpm). The samples were centrifuged for 20 min at 10,000 rpm to separate the undissolved portion of the PAHs. HPLC was used to measure the PAH concentration of the samples.
