Three water samples were collected from tap water, sea water
and Al-Nubaria canal and the latter was used as an industrial
wastewater. One liter of each water sample was spiked with
1.0 mg L1 of the selected metal ions, viz. Ni(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II)
and allowed to pass over a multi-stage micro-column system
packed with 100.0 1.0 mg of the selected magnetic nano-sorbent
by a flow rate of 10.0 mL min1 under air pressure. The collected
water sample after passage through the column was subjected to
atomic absorption analysis. This procedure was repeated three times
and the average percentage recovery values of the evaluated metal
ions from water samples were determined.
