All strains used in this study are listed in Table 1. C. freundii
AD970 is an environmental strain, isolated from a pond-water sam-
ple. For molecular biology protocols, C. freundii AD970 and all of its
derivatives were cultured in shake flasks (250 rpm) in LB medium,
supplemented with kanamycin when necessary. E. coli JM109 and
the derivatives used for the vector construction were cultured in
shake flasks (250 rpm) in LB medium, supplemented with appro-
priate antibiotics (kanamycin 40 g/mL, or ampicillin 100 g/mL)
when necessary. S. blattae was propagated in shake flasks (250 rpm)
in LB medium before genomic DNA extraction. All flask cultivations
for molecular biology protocols were carried out with shaking at
250 rpm, at 30 ◦C (37 ◦C for E. coli).
