Fresh and healthy samples of spathe were obtained from some
local farmers during the flowering (females) period of plants
(March 2014). Samples were washed with distilled water, and
excess waterwasremoved.Someportions of samples were air dried
for two weeks at room temperature. The final moisture of the dried
materials was 4.16% determined by drying in an oven at 60 ◦C until
constant weight was obtained (18 h). Fresh and dried samples were
separately placed in air-tight plastic bags and stored at -20 ◦C prior
to antibacterial and antioxidant analyses.
