The Cons of the Internet
However, the use of the internet can also trigger problems such as:
1. New Possibilities for Crime.
This level of connectedness doesn’t come without its drawbacks however. One of the biggest has been the emergence of the internet criminal. Things like identity theft, privacy leaks, cyber bulling, etc. are all a result of this wired technology. While these crimes do have similar real world counterparts they are nowhere near as prolific or as wide spread as they are on the internet.
2. Loss of Privacy.
This extensive breach of both privacy and trust has caused major backlashes and continues to be a highly debated topic today.
3. Personal Information Compromised
People often put a wealth of their personal information on the internet, without thinking of the consequences. Identity theft has dramatically risen since the internet made it’s appearance in a mainstream setting.
4. Pornography
There are no limits of what can be put on the internet, it is a tool that is open to anybody and everybody. Very violent, sexually explicit, and other illegal things can be easily accessed for viewing using the internet.
5. Addiction
Social media, online games, and other time consuming things are beginning to take over the youth. They spend more time in their virtual life than they do in their real ones.
6. Wide Spread Audience
While this may seem like a pro to many, I consider it a major con. Things can travel astoundingly quickly on the internet. This provokes people to purposefully danger themselves or other in order to gain some viral fame.
7. it allows everybody to speak about everything under the protection on anonymity- racism, instigation to violence have a strong voice over the Internet
