Outsourcing is currently a "hot" topic in the business world,
particularly in the area of logistics which is finally being
recognised by corporations as an important component of
competitive strategy [1]. The transportation aspect of logistics
plays a critical role as the enabler for raw materials and
finished goods to move through domestic and world markets.
Marketing, manufacturing and other aspects of logistics such
as warehousing and inventory management are greatly
impacted by the performance of the transportation function
in a company. This study will focus on the role of outsourcing
in effectively managing transportation activities.
