Cervical ripening
Cervical ripening should be used to improve the success rate
of induction in a woman with unfavorable or ultrasonographically
long cervix. Many methods have been proposed,
such as mechanical (transcervical Foley catheter with or
without saline infusion, sweeping of the membranes, laminaria
tents) and pharmacological (PGE 2 or PGE 1).
