K.A. was a 25 2/7 weeks gestation male born to a 36 year old gravid 10 para 3 mother. Maternal prenatal screens were unremarkable, though K.A.’s mother had a history of multiple miscarriages and this pregnancy was complicated by an incompetent cervix, requiring placement of a cerclage at 13 weeks. Two weeks prior to delivery, K.A.’s mother presented in preterm labor; she received betamethasone and a tocolytic that stopped the labor. However, 1 day prior to delivery, K.A.’s mother presented in preterm labor again; this time there was evidence of chorioamnionitis. K.A.’s mother was treated with penicillin and betamethasone and lobor was induced.
