To our knowledge, although investigations on the blending of PVA with other
materials such as sodium alginate [2] and chitosan [1, 7, 16] have been proposed,
sole PVA hydrogel has not so far been employed and it is potentially attractive to be
used as adsorbents for heavy metal removal from wastewater. Besides, this is a good
