The choice of the basic pH
enabled electrophoretic mobility of the analytes and avoided the speciation
of the analytes into different chemical forms.
The adopted CE method is simple, precise and accurate. It is also a
rapid method because an efficient determination of analytes was obtained
at short analysis time (less than 8.0 min), with spectral confirmation.
Moreover, the proposed method showed good precision,
accuracy and achieved good recovery of aspartame and strontium
ranelate in the pharmaceutical formulation. Therefore, the developed
method can be used as a good alternative for routine drug analysis,
both for quality control and for the control of counterfeit product. It
can also be extended to applications in samples of biological fluids such
as urine, saliva and plasma using appropriate preconcentration steps.
As far as we are concerned this is the first time CE is applied in the
simultaneous determination of strontium ranelate and aspartame in
pharmaceutical formulations.
