2.1.2. Vehicle acceleration tests
The dynamic behaviour of the tractors was detected through
tests on straight, flat and rising asphalt roads by recording
travel times (in all the tests) and reached speed (only for
0e416-m test; Table 2); in the second case, a flyover with a very
long ramp was used.
Four repetitions per test were performed, except for the
0e887-m acceleration test (only one trial); in all the tests and
with all the tractors the driver gave full throttle.
In each acceleration test involving tractor A (full-powershift)
the driver set the automatic mode instead of the manual
for managing the gear-ratio changes: the electronic system
changes the current gear-ratio to the higher always after
reaching the same engine speed, corresponding to the
maximum power (2000 min1). Tractors B and C were equipped
with a CVT: the change of the transmission ratio and the
choice of the engine speed were managed automatically by
on-board electronics.
