Tandem Walk Test
The tandem walk (TW) test measures the postural control system by reducing the body base of support. During the test, subjects are asked to walk with one foot placing directly in front of the other foot. This test is often applied in routine neurological examinations as an indicator of overall balance ability. The balance capability is determined by speed of walking and number of steps. This test is simple and low cost but may not be appropriate to use in obese subjects. Tinetti Performance Orientated Mobility Assessment (balance subscale) The Tinetti Performance Oreinted Mobility Assessment or POMA consists of balance and gait subscales. The balance subscale consists of 9 tasks such as sitting and standing balance, rising and attempts to rise.
