The
procedure is relatively simple and does not require
expensive equipment. It is on the basis of a very fast
freezing rate obtained by direct immersion of semen into a
liquid nitrogen bath and also on a very fast thawing process
performed at high temperature. The cryoprotectant is DMA,
considered less efficient compared with glycerol, but with
the advantage of having no contraceptive effect within the
female reproductive tract; therefore, no further processing
of thawed semen is required to remove the cryoprotectant
before artificial insemination
