Nicotero reveals that after five incredibly successful seasons, what continues to impress him is the writers' dedication to the show's storylines, commenting that although the team takes inspiration from Kirkman's original series of graphic novels, viewers can continue to expect "detours" from the canon when Season 6 returns. This will certainly reassure fans of Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun), who's been widely slated to be next on the chopping block when new episodes premiere.
So, what's in store for the survivors when Season 6 returns? Will they continue to try and make a success of their stay in the Safe Zone? Nicotero remains tight-lipped on whether or not Rick and co. are headed for all-out war with the Alexandrians, saying only that next season will focus on their various attempts to make it work. Fans of Rick and Jessie may also be disappointed, with Nicotero adding that he doesn't think Jessie will be able to get over Rick's murder of her husband, however violent he may have been. However, we did get some more information about the Wolves and the threat they pose to Alexandria. Nicotero reveals that the group are using humans as bait in a bid to create a "zombie army".
