As the grains get finer, the volume percentage of the grain boundary region increases under a fixed grain boundary thickness, so does the spatial charges segregated near the grain boundaries. Accordingly, the dielectric coefficients, piezoelectric coefficients, and the mechatronic couplings all decrease for a finer grain size.
