From the results of antibacterial screening of four solvents (petroleum ether, chloroform, ethanol and water) used in this study, petroleum ether extracts exhibited best antibacterial activity,All the plants exhibited significant antibacterial activity and P.roxburghii Sarg.was found to be the most effective species. Glycosides, flavonoids and triterpenoids are present in all three plants. Further research in this pursuit, focusing on the isolation of individual compounds and finally subjecting to clinical trials, promises to open new avenues in the use of these plants for therapeutic purpose.
