Notes relating to CPF general specifications
CP in researching the possibility of investing in freezing tunnels have studied the various freezing tunnels offered internationally and have seen large variations in design approach and experiences.
In evaluating the tenders CP would require the potential suppliers to address the concerns expressed below
Energy usage
CP is concerned in the total cost of ownership of operating freezer tunnels.
The second largest heat load is that of the fan motor. Prospective suppliers have to demonstrate how they have taken steps to ensure minimum fan power
Freezing of product evenly
To ensure consistent and even freezing time the prospective suppliers have to demonstrate the steps they have taken to achieve even freezing irrespective of the carton location in the freezer as well as documented proof of the achievable freezing times.
Holding capacity
Freezing tunnel holding capacity and shelf loading profile for each container/box size. With the varying box sizes it is possible to arrive at different sized freezing tunnel. The prospective supplier must be able to demonstrate the flexibility of his design to cope with future market driven box sizes and still be able to freeze a total of 100 ton /day
Reliability.
CP has observed varying degrees of “uptimes” It is important that CP purchases proven technology.
CP requires proof (documented reference by an independent party such as a client) of up times sustained over a period of at least 5 years which must be in excess of 99.8%
