1.1 The Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy sufficiency Economy is a philosophy bestowed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (king Rama 9) on his subjects in order to provide guidance on appropriate conduct covering several aspects of life. It was given before the economic crisis in 1997 so as to help Thai people survive the crisis and be able to live a stable and sustainable life under global change. /// Sufficiency Economy is the philosophy that provides life guidance and code of conducts for people at all levels, including the family, the community, and the government, to follow. This is for the stable development and administration of the country through the practice of taking the middle path in life. The sufficiency Economy is based on three major principles, which are moderation, reasonableness, and self immunity as shown in the diagram below.
