HSL
The HSL color model is the same as HSV in the hue component but differs in the
last two components. The saturation part is defined differently than in HSV and of
course the last component is entirely different, with the L standing for “lightness.” In
either case, these are the color models you want to use if the brightness and satura‑
tion of a color are important to you. For example, if you want to change the bright‑
ness or saturation in RGB or CMYK, you would have to change the numbers for all
the values, which can also cause the hue to change, whereas with HSV you need to
adjust just one number for either the saturation or the value, which keeps the hue
constant. These models are also slightly more useful than RGB in that they actually
contain a more complete set of colors that are visible to humans than RGB, which is
slightly restricted.
