The coating lifetime is an essential factor for the experimental
consideration. Also, the coating durability along with its chemical
and physical stability has major roles in the extraction
methodology. In order to achieve a complete desorption with no
carry-over effect, the NiO-PBT nanocomposite fiber coating was
conditioned for 1 h at temperatures ranging from 100 to 280 C and
subsequently used for headspace SPME of the analytes. The peak
area ratio (r) of each component was obtained by comparing the
peak area obtained at each temperature versus the the relevant
value achieved at 240 C (Table 1). The extraction capability of the
NiO-PBT nanocomposite fiber coating was barely affected by the
temperature rise from 240 to 280 C. However, the desorbing
temperature of 240 C was implemented to extend the fiber
coating life time.
