In this research, a low-temperature atmospheric plasma source has been designed and developed using the dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma production technique. The source is designed to have coaxial geometry. It is generated using a DC power supply. Using a DC power supply has many special properties; for example, the easy installation is suitable for usage due to the proper size of the equipment; the process is not complex, and the costs are low. Making non-thermal plasma is divided into 2 forms by the design of difference electrodes: planar electrode plasma and plasma jet. This process is high security because non-thermal plasma has low heat; the dielectric makes it difficult for the flow of electricity into a body.[2,6,7,10]
From the research of inventing this dielectric barrier discharge plasma, using a DC power supply, and designing the prototype tools of non-thermal plasma, the discharge level should be normal glow discharge mode at the atmospheric pressure. To get the result of the experiment it was necessary to modify many variable such as the gap, voltage, and gas flow rate to find the electric relation that was the cause of non-thermal plasma, and for developing the efficiency of non-thermal plasma.
