Certain categories of students in Pre IB / IB (age 15-18 years) are entitled to apply for a grant from Lånekassen to help with the costs of tuition fees.
To be entitled, the following criteria, set by Lånekassen, must be met: The parents must pay the tuition fees themselves and receive no support from employers or through other means to offset the costs. The student must be either a Norwegian citizen or the child of a citizen of a European Economic Area (EEA) country who has worked in Norway and paid taxes for a minimum of 3 months.
Application information will be distributed to the students by OIS at the start of the school year.
§ 46-1 Stipend til delvis dekning av skolepenger til videregående opplæring ved utenlandske eller internasjonale skoler
Til videregående opplæring ved utenlandske eller internasjonale skoler i Norge eller i utlandet gis det stipend til delvis dekning av skolepenger når søkeren har rett til videregående opplæring etter opplæringsloven § 3-1. Stipendet blir gitt med 85 prosent av faktiske skolepenger når skolepengene ikke er dekket av andre. Maksimalt stipend for 2013-2014 er kr 83 950 per undervisningsår. Det gis stipend bare til skolepenger som søkeren faktisk betaler.
§ 46-1 Grants to partially cover tuition for secondary education at foreign or international schools
For secondary education at foreign or international schools in Norway or abroad a grant is given to partially cover tuition fees when the applicant has the right to upper secondary education by the Education Act § 3-1. The grant given covers 85 percent of the actual tuition when tuition is not covered by others. The maximum grant for 2013-2014 is kr 83 950 per academic year. The grant is given only on tuition fees which the applicant actually pay.
