Good afternoon,
Here are a few bits of news for the week:
Homework- due to a “hectic birthday cake experience” on Friday, we didn’t get the homework out to the kids. I’ll be giving it to them today, except the FOBISIA kids. Some students have a bit of extra homework this week to catch up on work from last week. Each student has been given a country of the world to research. Some kids need to do a lot more research at home, so I have assigned it to them to complete as soon as possible. We are creating a travel brochure in class. You are welcome to help your kids find the required information, but try to let them be as independent as possible. The homework assigned for this week was to find extra information and to find certain phrases in the language of their country.
Travel Photos- as we are talking a lot about travel and tourism lately, I have been encouraging the kids to bring in or email photos of family holidays around the world! We have a travel wall up at school, and so far it’s looking a little sparse. Please choose 2-3 photos to send in hard copy or via email so I can print. The photo should have your child in it, of course. J (If you want the photos back, please let me know.)
Mr. Doubleday is visiting!- Our new Head of Primary, Josh Doubleday, is visiting for a few days this week. He stopped by today to say hi and have a little “question and answer” period with us. If you see him around, feel free to say hello. He is a friendly man (of course, he’s Canadian.. we’re all friendly) and I know from experience how wonderful he is, as I worked for him at my previous school in Abu Dhabi. I am absolutely thrilled that he will be joining us next year. The kids already like him a lot! I know you will too.
Arts Week- This week is Arts week at St. Andrews! Thursday is the variety show, from 1-4:15pm. Feel free to come by! There will be some art installments, and a great craft show! Radical theatricals will be performing Thursday at 1pm in the canteen as well. Year 3 in general is not in this performance, but some of our classmates are! It will be a few skits from Roald Dahl’s “Matilda.” Sure to be fun!
FOBISIA returnees- A big welcome back and congratulations to Harry, Chase and Charm! They had a great time in Malaysia with the team, and brought home a few medals! We are all very proud!
Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions!
Ms. G.
