Most
studies investigating the association between respiratory symptoms
and concentration of fungal spores have found only weak associations
or no association (Cooley et al., 1998; Sorenson, 1999). Chew et al.
(2003) found that the airborne concentrations of fungal spores are not
necessarily greater in mold-contaminated buildings, which indicates
that measurement of airborne fungal spores is not an adequatemethod
to assess fungal exposure.
