Basis for Report
The results of a calorimetric test are originally expressed in terms of the state of moisture in the
sample that was burned in the calorimeter. That is, if a weighed quantity of air-dried coal is used
for the test, the original results will be in terms of heat units per weight of air-dry sample. This
value is easily converted to other moisture content of the test sample and using conversion
formulas published in ASTM Standard Method D3180 or in other standard references on fuel
technology
