methanotrophs dominated the methanotrophic community
in the soil, accounting for more than 85% based on T-RFLP
fingerprints. The amendment with both ammonium and nitrate
promoted the growth of this methanotroph group, with the stimulating
effect increasing with N rate . The timecourse observations showed that type I methanotrophs grew
rapidly after application of N in both forms and sustained high
levels over the experimental period
