in waterusing6minmicrowaveirradiation.DiffractionpeaksinpowderX-raydiffraction(XRD)
patternsofthenanoparticlesgraduallyshifttolowerangleswithincreaseincadmiumcontent.
AbsorptionedgesforZn1xCdxS nanoparticlesobtainedbyUV–visdiffusereflectancespectra(DRS)are
red-shiftedasthevalueof x increases.Scanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM)imagesdemonstratethat
the nanoparticlesarenearlyspherical.Photocatalyticdegradationofmethyleneblue(MB)onthe
nanoparticleswasevaluatedunderUVandvisiblelightirradiations.TheresultsindicatethatZn0.8Cd0.2S
nanoparticlesexhibitthehighestphotocatalyticactivityamongthepreparedsamples.Moreover,
observedfirst-orderrateconstantofthereactionundervisiblelightirradiationdecreaseswithincrease
in microwaveirradiationtimeappliedforpreparationofthenanoparticles.
