4. Discussion
As far as we are aware, the possible effects of high milk production on plasma PAG
concentrations have not been previously explored. This study was performed on healthy
cows with live fetuses throughout the experimental period (35–63 days of gestation) to
ensure that plasma PAG variations could be attributed to factors other than the clinical status
of the cow and/or fetus. Daily mean milk production per cow was close to 41 kg during the
