2.6. Statistical analysis
Statistical analysis was done using the software Statgraphics
Plus for Windows (Statistical Graphics Corp,
1998). Both experiments were analysed by ANOVA and by
one-tailed paired t-test. In the two-way ANOVA for
experiment one, both blanching temperatures of salt and
water were treated as fixed levels of factors, and interaction
was included. In one-way ANOVA for experiment two, all
salt concentrations, including zero concentration, were
treated as fixed levels of a factor and significance of
differences tested using the method of Tukey HSD
Interval. The paired t-test tested the hypothesis that NaCl
solution soaking leads to lighter chips.
