Our physical attributes, sensory organs, mind, etc., are given to us by Prakṛti (Nature) so that we can eventually perceive the underlying Puruṣa (Spirit) in the world.
In Saṅkhya-Yoga, as in Nyāya-Vaiśeṣika, removal or aloofness from the world (Prakṛti) is an ideal goal of life (like a monk).
To this end, one cultivates detachment and meditates (= practices yoga), just as Śiva meditates in yoga.
