Therefore, the
effect of arginine on breast meat was considered and
the requirement for this meat was discussed. Quadratic
broken-line regression analysis of breast meat yield
data indicated the dietary requirement to be at 0.99%
of diet in White Pekin ducks from 1 to 21 d of age. Dietary
arginine supplement increased breast meat yield
(P < 0.05), suggesting development of breast meat is
more sensitive to dietary arginine. However, addition of
dietary arginine did not affect leg meat percentage to
fasted live weight (P > 0.05), therefore, leg meat was
not considered as criteria for arginine requirement estimation
in the present study.
