Notes on taxonomy and nomenclature
Ridley (1904) identified the causal pathogen of white root disease of rubber as Fomes semitostus but since then various other synonyms have been used. Fomes lignosus was used in many publications until Pegler and Waterston (1968) adopted the name of Rigidoporus lignosus. Nomenclature and various other identifications had been detailed by Napper (1932b) and Fox (1961a).
