to several caveats. Limitations of the Gini coefficient data impose constraints
on the sample size and consistency of the data set. Limited data availability confines
the control variables only to labor productivity and employment shares across
sectors and may cause estimation biases arising from the omitted variables. Additionally,
the limited scope of this section leaves a number of econometric issues
unaddressed, including endogeneity biases as well as country- and time-specific
effects. Therefore, the empirical results discussed in this section should be deemed
as tentative.
