Ramakrishna’s disciple, Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902), promoted Hindu revival. He regarded Hinduism as a religion of tolerance and inclusion in contrast to the narrow dogma (religious teachings) of Christianity.
Vivekananda went to the US. He was the first modern Indian guru to spread knowledge of Hinduism outside India.
Vivekananda developed the Ramakrishna Mission, which ran hospitals and educational centers in India.
