The GLOBE study categorized "six global leadership dimensions of culturally
implicit theories of leadership" (Dorfinan et al., 2004, p. 2). The GLOBE study found
evidence confirming the researchers' hypothesis that there would be universal support for
the dimension of charismatic/value-based leadership (p. 2); the study provided the finding
that "team-oriented leadership strongly correlated with charismatic/value-based
leadership, and was also universally endorsed" (p. 2). Additionally, participative styles
and the humane dimension of leadership were almost universally supported (p. 2). The
dimension of leadership styles associated with self-protective actions and the dimension
of autonomy varied by culture (p. 2). These global leadership dimensions will be
expanded upon in Chapter II.
