13. Again, check for parallelism of top bolster plate to top of lower, lower, water plate.
14. Lift middle plate assembly into position using reach truck and block in elevated position until platen assembly can be attached to the support rod assembly.
15. Verify that the platen assembly is parallel to the lower water plate at all four corners. This can be achieved by using machined support blocks with which to support the middle platen assembly. Support blocks’ height should establish equal gap for top and bottom molds.
16. Attach wear strip guide blocks to middle platen assembly using alignment procedures to properly shim the guide blocks to within .010”-.015” gap to wear strips.
17. Bring the platen support rod assembly into position and attach to upper bolster plate and middle plate assembly. Adjust stop nuts accordingly to maintain parallelism between the lower, lower and lower, upper water platens.
18 Once middle platen assembly is securely suspended by support rods, move the upper/upper insulation and hot water platen into position using reach truck and block up using blocks/inflatable air bladder. Torque 2 ½” long platen bolts to 75 ftlbs using ½” torque wrench. Then remove blocking/inflatable air bladder.
19 Check that the gap between water plates for both lower and upper molds are the same.
20 Re-Attach mold-hold cylinder assemblies to the support rod assembly.
21 Install all mold guide rails into their respective positions and reconnect all thru-beam sensors and respective cables.
22 Install upper press locking bar interlock switch, Celesco transducer other ancillary electro-mechanical components.
23 Secure all cables along proper routing anchors. Verify cable connections and anchor points are tight/secure.
24 Lubricate middle plate assembly guide blocks and apply grease film to wear plates.
25 Install platen pipes/fittings. Secure pipes at anchor points and then install hoses.
26 Install thermocouples to platens and reconnect to respective connectors.
27 Move elevator into position and anchor.
28 Reconnect cables and tubing to elevator.
29 Remove any temporary floor pit cover plate supports and re-install cover plate.
30 Move mold handler into position and anchor. Install guard panels that may have been removed.
31 Reconnect cables and tubing to mold handler.
32 Unlock press, apply electrical power, and test all sensors.
- Mold rail thru beam sensors (8 sensors for 4 beams
- Mold hold actuator sensors on mold rail supports, 4 places
- Mold handler lock pin prox sensors
- Light curtain around mold handler
33 Open fluid supply and return lines and inspect for leaks.
34 Manually cycle upper ram to bleed air from ram cylinder and check for leaks.
35 Load molds and perform mold elevator to press alignments (alignment of mold from elevator to press rails, up and down, side to side and in and out positions). Check elevator alignment to both upper and lower presses. Mold rails in press and elevator positions should allow for ¼” gap between bottom of molds and top of plate below it.
36 Then check the elevator height setting to the mold handler rails.
37 Align the mold handler rails side to side with the elevator rails.
38 Install 2nd mold, put press into lockup to preheat molds. Look for correct ram pressure and verify there are no water leaks.
