Campuses across the country, including Penn, face challenges relating
to the health and wellbeing of their students–undergraduate, graduate, and
professional. Students arrive on campus having been at or near the top of
their classes and find themselves surrounded by other high-achieving stu- dents. Significant transitions, like that from high school to college or from
college to graduate school or professional school, can be very stressful.
These stressors are compounded when the student’s resilience and other
life skills have not been developed to allow them to recover from setbacks
and challenges in ways that allow for growth rather than distress.
