In a previous study (Zhang et al., 2015),
alginate-cast films prepared with 2% CBO were found to be effective in
inhibiting E. coli O157:H7, L. monocytogenes, and S. enterica in vitro.
The film prepared with 2% CBO and 0.5% soybean oil (SBO) exhibited
the reduced loss of CBO during storage of films because the incorporation
of non-polar SBO decreased the polarity of alginate films to favor
the retention of CBO
