Police in Sydney, Australia, say a Swedish man was killed and another was seriously injured when a shopping trolley they were fooling around in crossed the wrong side of the road and collided with a car early Tuesday.
The injured man, who is also Swedish, was taken to hospital where he is listed in a serious but stable condition, New South Wales State Police Detective Superintendent Gavin Dengate told reporters.
Both men are 28-years-old.
Dengate says the deceased was the one who was riding in the trolley.
He says one of the men was a student and the other was visiting him.
Police are investigating whether two men were under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
"Two males both aged 28, one in a shopping trolley, one at the back of the shopping trolley were heading east down Coogee Bay road. A collision has occurred between the shopping trolley and the vehicle. The male that was in the shopping trolley was catapulted out, landing in a kerb on the southern side of the road, the other person landed after the collision in the middle of the road. Unfortunately, the person in the shopping trolley died at the scene. The other male has numerous injuries currently at hospital in a serious but stable condition."
