The effect of fear of terror on increased job burnout over time
The COR theory suggests that “individuals strive to obtain, retain and protect those things (resources) they most
value, both material and psychosocial” (Hobfoll, 1989: 516). In times of terror, self-preservation (i.e., staying alive),
one of individuals’ key resources, as well as the lives of family members and friends, is threatened, a state that elicits
stress (Hobfoll, Canetti-Nisim, & Johnson, 2006)
