A medium tall and erect clone IND-0

A medium tall and erect clone IND-07-1457 was spotted
on the field bund of paddy at Tarapur with moderate tillering
in the middle Gujarat. Near Gondala, one flowering
clump of S. spontaneum growing in the rocky crevices on
banks of a small river was collected (IND-07-1463). On the
river banks of Uben, Bhadar, Sirosan and Vajya no
S. spontaneum was spotted. In the district Junagadh, places
such as Khadiya, Mendarda, Sasangir, Talala and Dhari
were surveyed. Only one sample from a riverbank at Sasan
Gir (IND-07-1459) was collected. Except this one no
S. spontaneum was found beyond Sasan Gir, in spite of
reserve forest enclosing the Gir lion sanctuary which is less
disturbed by human habitat and industrial development.
