In the past, the idea of a new eco-town set up near Bangkok to solve its over-populated and over-centralised problems have surfaced from time to time. For instance, when the new Parliament Building was proposed, there was an idea that this was an opportunity for designing a new eco-town in Nakon-nayok or Chacheongsao Provinces which could set an example for the whole country to follow. Such ideas dissipated quickly after initial exploration. There were heated political debates on its feasibility which got nowhere. There were also a lack of transparency and conflict of interests on land ownerships.
