Ayesu-Offei and Antwi-Boasiako (1996) reported abundant sporulation of lesions on
cassava leaves and that microconidia were formed by means of budding and fragmentation
of the macroconidia. Similar methods were applied in our study; however, no microconidia
appeared on the lesions in the seven strains. Interestingly, microconidia grew on the colony
by means of fragmentation of the macroconidia, which has not been reported in other studies.
