Mobile Touch Sensing Sensing touch has become an important part of interaction with many computing devices. 3D printing is well suited to implement touch and grasp sensing on and around mobile devices. 3D printed light pipes can sense touch by guiding light from arbitrary location on the surface of a mobile device to a single sensor array. A key advantage of this technique is the ease with which light pipes can be printed into the walls of a device to create mechanically robust and exceptionally thin (sub mm) embedded sensing with minimal hardware assembly.
