The pulp, as edible fraction, presented an excellent amount of vitamin C, as in 100 g, it provided 121.45 mg of this vitamin, which exceeds the recommended daily intake (75–90 mg/day), DRI(2005). Besides, it also showed higher content of ascorbic acid than the cerrado passion fruit pulp (24.66 mg/100 g) (Souza et al.,2012). Its consumption contributes to a healthier and more balanced diet in vitamins. In study of Thai wild fruits, Kubola et al.(2011) found similar content of vitamin C in Carissa carandras L.(132.00 mg/100 g) compared to the pulp of jatoba, and in Diospyrosde candra Lour.
