ImplicationsCrisis communication research has developed differently in communication and business during the past two decades.In communication, its focus has been on the effects of crisis management, and it has employed a quantitative approachand content analysis, with media articles as data sources. Crisis research in business has concentrated on evaluation ofcrisis events employing a qualitative approach, narrative analysis, and practitioners as data sources. Each discipline’s crisiscommunication research “paradigm” may be scrutinized in terms of the validity and utility of its body of knowledge.
