Asked whether any of the candidates has the expertise needed to oversee construction of the new parliament, Mr Pornpetch said no deputies were skilled in the matter and appointment was based purely on seniority.
Earlier this month Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, in his capacity as chief of the National Council for Peace and Order(NCPO), signed an order transferring Charae Panpruang, secretary-general of the House of Representatives, to become an adviser to the Prime Minister's Office.
The move was a result of NCPO frustration over a lack of progress in the construc- tion project and a probe into alleged graft in House procurement deals.
