3.3.2 Hydraulic Model Build
With the model produced from the stage above, there is actually not much cleaning up task still required. This is because the activity is carried out with the objective of creating a working network model as end product. The modeller will only require carrying out final detail check and carry out further site visits to confirm any outstanding details to ensure that he is satisfied that everything is in order for the model initial run.
For the DMA model building exercises only the pipe within the DMA will be imported and required for the calibration purposes. Flow monitoring points will be acting as the model boundary.
The team will also require digital contours for the whole area covered by MWA for all nodes automatic elevation assignment. Cadastral maps, road maps and satellite images are also required to carry out the demand allocation.
The team will use available billing data from MWA as our master reference for demand allocation. The total number of customers in a particular model must be the same with the active customers in the billing data within the boundary represented by the model.
The team will also categorize the demand type for hydraulic model based on the tariff group of MWA’s customer. This demand type category will determine which profile pattern will be applied to the model.
Initial model run will be carried out to check that all parameters and control been correctly entered and also eliminate any error during the model run.
