The plants, N. nucifera and C. alternifolius, were well-grown in the experimental study and had high phosphorus removal efficiency. The remaining phosphorus in the system during the time of study is shown in Table 1. After 5 days of the experiment, N. nucifera and C. alternifolius removed phosphorus to lower than the acceptable standard guidelines from the U.S. EPA (1991), which is 0.1 mgL−1.
