I will describe the work of the IAU's program group for the worldwide Development of Astronomy(PGWWDA).The Program Group operates within IAU Commission 46 and our mission is to send astronomers to developing countries, usually non-IAU member countries, and offer lectures , advice and support.A typical visit lasts about a week and results in a report for the Comm 46 president and for the IAU Executive. Follow-up visits by other Program Groups of Comm 46 are important.Recent visits by Comm 46 have been to many countries of Central and South-East Asia , Africa and Latin America. Currently PGWWDA is making about six visits a year, and I will describe some of our successes and the tangible benefits that come from these activities.
